Recent thoughts

Rashied Ali,
continues to move me toward the most courageous expression of the divine presence in music.
He has been a redeemer of the meek and was to not let any small lamp go out in the temple that our unified work is.
He gleaned the deepest part of our devotion to honest music and the honorary swords it carries. He restored our honor as self sufficient beings in a self compromising world.

Some of my music for players and improvisors, requires an emotional response to the titles.

Inspired by the turn of this Century's  "frog chasing snake", and marginalized citizenry, Intimidation is one in a series of pieces with interactive themes. It was recently arranged for the Tufts University Big Band, to be performed April 2010.

When I heard them, I felt that they could execute the irreverence in the score, and extract personal beauty from the vigorous performance experience..
